JERUSALEM — Five Arab citizens of Israel were killed in a shooting in northern Israel on Thursday amid mounting criticism over the government’s inaction in addressing an escalating crime within Arab society.

MOSCOW — At least five people died and 41 people were injured following the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam, the mayor of the Nova Kakhovka district said on Thursday.

“It is reported today that out of seven people who were grazing cattle, five drowned,” RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing the mayor Vladimir Leontiev.

“We are evacuating the remaining two,” Leontiev said, adding that the injured were hospitalized.

TEHRAN — Iran officially reopened its consulate general and representative office to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after seven years of closure, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Thursday.

The reopening ceremony, which was held on Wednesday evening, was attended by, among others, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Alireza Bigdeli, the caretaker of the Iranian Embassy in Riyadh Hassan Zarnegar, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Abbas Hosseini, and head of the Saudi Foreign Ministry Office in Jeddah Mazen bin Hamad al-Hamoudi, said the statement.
