NEW DELHI, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) — Southern Indian city of Visakhapatnam will be Andhra Pradesh’s new capital, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced Tuesday.

Reddy made the announcement at the International Diplomatic Alliance Meet in New Delhi.

“Here I am to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which is going to be our capital in the days to come,” he said, adding that “I myself will also be shifting to Visakhapatnam in the months to come.”

Reddy said they were organising a global investors summit in the new capital city on March 3 and 4.

At present Amaravati is the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Last year in November, Reddy repealed the controversial Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020 which intended to establish three capitals for Andhra Pradesh. Enditem
