HANOI, June 30 (Xinhua) — Vietnam reported 450 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 441 locally transmitted and nine imported, bringing the total tally to 16,863, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.

Among the community cases, 249 were reported in the southern Ho Chi Minh City, 81 in the nearby southern Binh Duong province, and 27 in the central Phu Yen province.

Most of them are contacts of previously confirmed cases or linked to the clusters of infections in the localities.

Nationwide, 6,840 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 76 from Tuesday, and nearly 206,600 people are being quarantined and monitored.

The ministry also said that three more COVID-19 patients with underlying conditions died, raising the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 81.

As of Wednesday, Vietnam has registered a total of 15,065 domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 13,495 detected since the start of the latest outbreak in late April, according to the health ministry. Enditem
