Uruguayan Aguirre named Olimpia head coach

ASUNCION, March 11– Uruguayan manager Diego Aguirre has reached an agreement to take charge of Olimpia, the Paraguayan club said on Saturday. Aguirre’s last managerial position was with Mexico’s Cruz Azul, with whom he parted ways last August. He will begin his spell as Olimpia boss with a visit to General Caballero in Paraguay’s top flight on Sunday.

ASUNCION, March 11 (Xinhua) — Uruguayan manager Diego Aguirre has reached an agreement to take charge of Olimpia, the Paraguayan club said on Saturday.

The 57-year-old replaces Julio Caceres, who was sacked earlier this month following a poor run of results.

“The Uruguayan is the new manager of the first team. Welcome to your new home, coach,” the Asuncion-based side said in a social media post.

Aguirre’s last managerial position was with Mexico’s Cruz Azul, with whom he parted ways last August.
