GUANGZHOU, July 24 (Xinhua) — Shandong Taishan made an impressive 3-1 win over Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic in the 8th round of Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Saturday.

Chongqing defender Xu Wu put Shandong in the lead on an own goal in the 16th minute against the run of play. Guo Tianyu doubled the advantage with a header when Wang Tong set him up for an easy finish at 36 minutes.

Feng Jing got one back for Chongqing in the 55th before Xu Xin’s shot five minutes later gave his side the deserved win, which extended Shandong’s unbeaten streak to eight.

In the eye-catching Guangzhou derby, Guangzhou FC started the game well, with striker Ai Kesen putting a difficult half-volley goal, but then he gifted an own goal under pressure as Guangzhou City levelled 1-1.

Cardona netted a penalty as Guangzhou City went ahead at 34 minutes after Song Wenjie fell over Jiang Guangtai in the penalty area.

However, Ai Kesen equalized 2-2 for Guangzhou FC one minute later with a powerful shot.

Luo Guofu lifted Guangzhou FC with his 48th-minute spot-kick before Chen Zhizhao teed up Guilherme for the Guangzhou City third in the 67th minute.

Luo once scored in the stoppage time but Guangzhou FC had to curtail their celebrations after VAR showed he was offside before that, and Guangzhou derby ended in a 3-3 draw.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Henan Songshan Longmen draw with Shenzhen FC scoreless, Cangzhou Mighty Lions won over Qingdao FC 2-0.

Beijing Guoan will face Shanghai Shenhua on Sunday, while Shanghai Port plays Tianjin Jinmen Tiger. Enditem
