LAGOS, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) — Two people were killed and four others injured after a Nissan pickup rammed into a parking truck on a road in Nigeria’s southwest state of Ogun on Saturday, road police said.

The accident happened on Saturday morning on a road in the Iyana Egbado area of the state, said Ahmed Umar, head of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun at a news conference in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Seven people were involved in the accident, of which two were confirmed dead, and four were injured, while one was unhurt.

Another FRSC official was quoted by local media as saying the suspected cause of the crash was the excessive speed of the Nissan pickup, which lost control and rammed into the truck parking by the roadside due to a flat tyre.

Road accidents are quite frequent in Nigeria, mainly due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving. Enditem
