ANKARA, May 9 (Xinhua) — Türkiye on Tuesday condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip and urged Israel to end these attacks immediately.

“We condemn the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, in which 13 Palestinians, including children and women, lost their lives. Military attacks against the Palestinian people must be stopped immediately,” Turkish Presidential Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin tweeted on Tuesday.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Sentop also voiced condemnation, saying that “Israel must immediately put an end to these unlawful and barbaric attacks, which only bring chaos to the region and make peace impossible.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said Ankara “expects these attacks to be ended immediately without further loss of life and without causing a new spiral of conflict in the region.”

On Tuesday, Israeli fighter jets and unmanned drones carried out simultaneous and surprising airstrikes against buildings and apartments that host senior military leaders of the PIJ movement in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 13 people and injuring more than 20 others, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

The airstrikes came less than a week after over 100 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel following the death of PIJ official Khader Adnan, who had been on hunger strike for 86 days while under Israeli custody. Enditem
