QUITO, April 25 (Xinhua) — A suspected car bomb exploded at dawn on Monday outside the heavily-guarded “La Roca” prison in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil, with no fatalities reported so far.

Police sources said specialized personnel are processing the scene and collecting evidence to determine the cause of the blast.

The prison’s surveillance system captured the explosion, and experts analyzed the images to identify those responsible for the blast.

Several gang leaders linked to drug trafficking are serving their terms in the “La Roca” prison. They have been accused of starting a riot on April 3 in the Turi prison situated in the southern Ecuadoran city of Cuenca, which left 20 prisoners killed. Enditem
