SINGAPORE, June 30 (Xinhua) — Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 62,579.

The newly recorded coronavirus infections included five locally transmitted cases who were linked to previously confirmed cases and have already been placed under quarantine.

The newly reported 11 imported cases have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. Of them, six cases were detected upon arrival in the Southeast Asian country, and the other five people developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

Currently 133 active cases are being treated in hospitals in Singapore, including eight patients requiring oxygen supplementation, with four of them in critical condition and held in the intensive care unit (ICU).

As of June 29, Singapore had administered over 5.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination program, with over 2.1 million people fully vaccinated. Enditem
