SINGAPORE, July 5 (Xinhua) — Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 13 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total tally to 62,630.
The new infections include six locally transmitted cases, four of which were linked to previous cases, and have already been placed on quarantine.
The newly reported seven imported cases have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. Five of these cases were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while two developed symptoms during SHN or isolation.
A total of 102 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 10 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation and three in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).
As of July 4, Singapore has administered a total of 5,780,703 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination program, covering 3,608,688 individuals, with 2,172,015 individuals fully vaccinated with two doses.
The ministry also announced on Monday that a 16-year-old male Singaporean patient collapsed at home on Saturday morning after received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty vaccine on June 27, and did weightlifting at the gym.
The MOH said the preliminary diagnosis of his condition is an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and clinical and laboratory tests are in progress to understand the underlying cause.
According to the ministry, it will work with the medical team in the National University Hospital to determine if this case might be linked to the COVID-19 vaccination.
It advises all persons, in particular adolescents and younger men aged less than 30 years old, to avoid strenuous physical activity for seven days after their vaccination as a further precautionary measure. Enditem
