SARAJEVO, May 11 (Xinhua) — Sarajevo Business Forum (SBF), a two-day event gathering some 1,500 participants from 40 countries, has been officially launched on Wednesday.
More than 300 investment projects and business ideas will be presented at this year’s SBF, mostly from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and regional countries such as Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania.
The theme of the 11th SBF is “Nearshoring – Perspective for the Region”, and participants will discuss the potentials and possibilities of relocating production facilities from the European countries to the South-east Europe region, with the focus on regional investment projects in production industries, agriculture, energy sector, education, finance, infrastructure and tourism.
“Our region can be the bridge between great markets of Europe and Asia”, said Zeljko Komsic, a member of the Presidency of BiH who officially opened this year’s SBF, along with Alek Bakalovic, the Chairman of Bosna Bank International (BBI), and Adnan Delic, Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton.
Borut Pahor, the President of Slovenia, said that BiH should unconditionally receive the status of EU candidate country.
“I know how hard it is to achieve consensus about this issue but this is the most productive idea I can come up with right now”, said Pahor.
First launched in 2010, the SBF grew into a first-class economic event organized by four big banks, the BBI, Islamic Development Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. Enditem
