SEOUL, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) — South Korea reported 66,587 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Tuesday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 26,357,464, the health authorities said on Wednesday.

The daily caseload was down from 72,883 in the previous day, but it was higher than 62,468 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

For the past week, the daily average number of new cases was 53,700.

Among the new cases, 67 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 70,601.

The number of infected people who were in critical condition stood at 411, down one from the previous day.

Forty-seven more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 29,795. Enditem
