ISLAMABAD, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) — A sub-national anti-polio vaccination campaign in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province will be carried out next week from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, the provincial health ministry said in a statement on Friday.

During a meeting on the campaign’s readiness, Sindh’s health minister Azra Fazal Pechuho said that though there have been no local cases detected in more than two years, “we have found samples in the environment and this means that there should be no margin for low performance of vaccinators and supervisors.”

This year, 20 polio cases have been reported so far in Pakistan. In Sindh, the last polio case was identified in July 2020, and the last case in the country was reported in September this year, according to the statement. Enditem
