LUSAKA, July 15 (Xinhua) — At least 532 people were killed while 1,365 others were seriously injured in road traffic accidents recorded in Zambia during the second quarter of 2021, the police said on Thursday.

Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo said the country recorded 8,407 road traffic accidents during the quarter, out of which 455 were fatal, resulting in the death of 532 people while 1,365 people were seriously injured.

She said in a release that the road traffic accidents recorded represent an increase from 6,143 accidents recorded during the same period last year.

The police spokesperson added that most of the accidents were due to human errors. Enditem
