MACAO, March 31 (Xinhua) — Macao’s cross-border vehicle traffic in February hiked by 75.7 percent year-on-year to 493,587 trips, the Macao Special Administrative Region’s (SAR) statistical service said on Friday.

The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service showed that the gross weight of port containerized cargo went up 25.3 percent year-on-year to 12,740 tonnes last month.

Arriving and departing commercial flights totaled 1,976 trips in February, a significant rise of 50.7 percent year-on-year, showed the report.

Licensed motor vehicles in Macao totaled 249,685 at the end of February, up 0.7 percent year-on-year. New registration of motor vehicles in February jumped 27.2 percent year-on-year to 917.

The report showed that the number of traffic accidents last month increased 19.8 percent year-on-year to 986, with 332 people injured. Enditem
