JERUSALEM, June 12 (Xinhua) — Israel helped foil a planned attack by Iran against Israelis in Turkey last month, state-owned Kan TV news reported Sunday.

Israel shared the intelligence information with Turkey, an anonymous senior Israeli security official told Kan, adding the Iranian efforts to carry out such attacks have been on the rise in recent weeks.

Iran has not commented on the Israeli allegations yet.

In late May, Israel’s National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau warned that Iran might plan to attack Israeli tourists in Turkey and warned the Israelis against travelling to the country.

“There is increasing concern in the security establishment regarding the Iranian efforts to attack Israeli targets around the world,” the council said in a statement.

Iran has accused Israel of killing on May 22 Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, an Islamic Revolution Guards Corps colonel, and vowed to avenge his death. Khodaei was shot and killed by two motorcyclists in the east of Tehran, capital of Iran. Enditem
