NEW DELHI, July 27 (Xinhua) — India’s civil aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday restricted flights of the private airline SpiceJet to 50 percent of its number of departures after certain anomalies regarding safety were found.

The restriction would be in place for eight weeks, according to the DGCA.

Spot checks and inspections were conducted on the airline’s aircraft after many technical snags were reported in its flights in recent weeks, resulting in emergency landings.

Similar technical snags have been also reported in the aircraft of India’s other airlines. Enditem
