NEW DELHI, July 2 (Xinhua) — India reported 17,092 new COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 43,486,326, showed the data released by the country’s federal health ministry on Saturday.

A total of 4,12,570 tests of COVID-19 were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 29 deaths from the pandemic since Friday morning took the total death toll to 525,168.

The number of active cases in the country rose to 109,568 with a rise of 2,379 active cases during the past 24 hours.

Earlier this week, the number of active cases in the country crossed the 100,000-mark on Thursday after nearly four months.

Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate in the country stood at 4.14 percent, while the weekly positivity rate had been 3.56 percent, revealed the federal health ministry.

So far, 42,851,590 people have been successfully cured and discharged from hospitals, of whom 14,684 were discharged during the past 24 hours. Enditem
