BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Gimnasia returned to the top of Argentina’s Primera Division standings on Thursday with a 2-0 home victory over Arsenal Sarandi.
Ramon Sosa put the hosts ahead with a 48th-minute strike before Nicolas Colazo doubled the lead with a superb long-range effort six minutes later.
Gimnasia reduced their intensity in the final half-hour but were able to nullify Arsenal’s attacking threat to secure their 10th win of the campaign.
The result leaves Gimnasia with 36 points from 19 games, a point ahead of second-placed Atletico Tucuman, who could only manage a 1-1 home draw with Talleres Cordoba earlier on Thursday.
In other Primera Division fixtures, Rosario Central drew 1-1 at home to Estudiantes and Defensa y Justicia clinched a 2-1 home victory over Argentinos Juniors. Enditem
