ACCRA, July 22 (Xinhua) — Ghanaian boxer Samuel Takyi said on Thursday that he is confident to bring a medal home in the 57kg category and will make a huge statement to the world in the coming Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In a telephone interview with Xinhua, “The Golden Ring Warrior” said that he is ready to take up his first challenge at the Olympic Games on Saturday to begin the nation’s search for a medal at the global stage after many years.
“I am wild like an eagle, a lion, and a cobra. I know the Olympic Games is the biggest stage for every sportsman and I will make the world know that I am from Ghana and the best”, he stated.
The 20-year-old said that the Ghanaian boxing team, whose nickname is the “Black Bombers”, are motivated to make the nation proud.
“Each day my confidence and morale rises, but I remain focused on taking home a medal,” he added.
