FRANKFURT, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) — The exports of Germany’s electro and digital industry in the first half of 2022 reached 115.8 billion euros (118.1 U.S. dollars), up 6.3 percent year on year, an industry association said here on Tuesday.

The German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (ZVEI) said that in June alone the country’s electro and digital exports increased by 8.8 percent year on year to 20.1 billion euros.

The association, however, noted that a significant part of the export growth is due to inflation.

The five largest buyers of Germany’s electro and digital products in the first half of the year were China, the United States, France, the Netherlands and Italy, according to ZVEI. The sector’s deliveries to China over the period rose by 4.1 percent to 12.8 billion euros.

ZVEI said Germany’s electro and digital imports have been growing faster than its exports this year. The country’s imports in the sector jumped by 15.5 percent to 122.1 billion euros in the first half of the year. (1 euro = 1.02 U.S. dollars) Enditem
