SUVA, July 24 (Xinhua) — Fiji recorded 684 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours and five more COVID-19 deaths to report for the period of July 19 to July 23, health authorities said Saturday.
There have been 177 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 175 of the deaths reported during the outbreak that started in April this year.
Fiji’s permanent secretary for Health James Fong said th authorities have recorded 165 new recoveries reported since the last update, and there are now 16,563 active cases.
Fiji’s health authorities have recorded a total of 22,513 cases since the first case was reported in March 2020, with 5,686 recoveries.
As of July 23,438,535 adults in Fiji have received their first dose of the vaccine and 95,173 have received their second doses. This means that 74.8 percent of the target population have received at least one dose and 16.2 percent are now fully vaccinated nationwide. Enditem
