Egyptian president, Prince Charles discuss combating terrorism, regional issues

CAIRO, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) — Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Britain’s Prince Charles discussed on Thursday means of combating terrorism and extremist ideology, the presidency said in a statement.

The Egyptian president couple received Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace, according to the statement.

“They discussed several issues of common interests, especially with regard to combating terrorism and extremist ideology,” it added.

Sisi confirmed the keenness to intensify joint cooperation for promoting the values of tolerance, peace, and acceptance of the other in a way that undermines the extremist interpretations of terrorist groups.

He called for adopting a multi-tiered strategy by the international community that addresses means of confronting extremist ideologies, and promoting the values of tolerance and mutual coexistence.

For his part, Prince Charles stressed the special relations between the two countries and the pivotal and balanced role that Egypt plays in maintaining regional security and stability.

The meeting also tackled ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of university education and health.

The British royal couple arrived in Egypt for a two-day visit as part of their four-day tour for the Middle East. Enditem
