CAIRO, June 28 (Xinhua) — Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry voiced on Monday worries over increasing Islamic State (IS) activities in some African countries, according to a statement by the country’s Foreign Ministry.

“Egypt is keen to enhance cooperation with African countries in the field of combating terrorism,” Shoukry told the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat IS in Rome with the participation of delegates from over 80 countries.

“The IS still poses real threats despite the success of eradicating its cells in many areas in Iraq and Syria,” the Egyptian foreign minister said, noting that it is important to boost global efforts to limit threats of the extremist group.

“Egypt fully supports the global coalition’s objectives to achieve stability and reconstruction of Syria and Iraq and to eradicate all the terrorist groups that adopt IS ideologies,” he added. Enditem
