SHANGHAI, May 17 (Xinhua) — Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin has called for meticulous preparations for this year’s Asian Games and Asian Para Games in Hangzhou.

After an inspection tour of Zhejiang Province and Shanghai from May 14 to 17, Shen noted that the Asian Games and Asian Para Games are major events for China this year, stressing the importance of hosting the Games in a “simple, safe and splendid” manner.

Shen inspected the venues for the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, the event operation headquarters and the Asian Games Village in Zhejiang, as well as the anti-doping laboratory in Shanghai.

She also watched the training sessions of various teams including badminton, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, rowing and women’s football, encouraging the athletes to focus on preparations for the Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Shen stressed China’s zero-tolerance of doping in sport, calling the athletes to “play clean”.

The Asian Games will take place between September 23 and October 8, followed by the Asian Para Games from October 22 to 28. Enditem
