CARACAS, March 5 (Xinhua) — Bolivian President Luis Arce and his Nicaraguan counterpart, Daniel Ortega, arrived in Venezuela on Sunday to take part in ceremonies marking the 10th anniversary of the death of former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

At the Maiquetia International Airport, located some 21 km from downtown Caracas, Arce told reporters that he is pleased to be able to attend the commemorative events to pay tribute to Chavez’s legacy.

“The great homeland (of Latin America) is one of his legacies, integration and, in short, so many things that he proposed in his time, such as the Bank of the South,” Arce said of Chavez.

Ortega condemned the unilateral sanctions and blockades imposed by the United States against several Latin American countries.

Thousands of Venezuelans came out on Sunday to commemorate Chavez, who died on March 5, 2013. Many gathered outside the military barracks where his remains rest. Enditem
