BEIJING, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) — Beijing Guoan midfielder Li Ke is working his way back to action after receiving a third operation to treat an “uncommon” leg complaint in late July.

Li, also known as Nico Yennaris, on Monday posted on social media two pictures, one showing a scar left from the operation stretching down from thigh to calf on the inner side of his right leg, the other showing him working out at a gym.

“Three surgeries down and we’re still here grinding back,” he wrote on one picture.

“The come back is on,” he wrote on the other one.

Li just joined up with the Beijing side in mid-May after returning from London, where he had two leg surgeries in late November and stayed for rehabilitation.

Without kicking a ball with the team, he was sent back to Beijing to receive treatment at the end of May after his leg problems, which he called “an injury/condition rare to see in footballers”, recurred.

Li then released a video providing an update on his injury, saying he had a blood vessel problem in his legs and needed to now have a third surgery to unblock the blood vessel.

He returned to London at the end of June for the operation.

Li played three matches with Beijing Guoan last season. Enditem
