Bangladesh records highest daily COVID-19 cases

DHAKA, June 28– Bangladesh reported 8,364 new cases as of 8:00 a.m. local time Monday, the highest daily spike, bringing the tally to 896,770, the Directorate General of Health Services said Monday evening. According to the official data, the fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.59 percent and the current recovery rate fell to 90.06 percent.

DHAKA, June 28 (Xinhua) — Bangladesh reported 8,364 new cases as of 8:00 a.m. local time Monday, the highest daily spike, bringing the tally to 896,770, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said Monday evening.

Also, the official data showed 104 more deaths were recorded, raising the death toll to 14,276, and 35,059 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across the country.

The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 807,673 including 3,570 new recoveries on Monday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.59 percent and the current recovery rate fell to 90.06 percent.

The confirmed cases have been rising again in Bangladesh since the beginning of this month.

To curb the virus transmission, the Bangladeshi government announced the imposition of a one-week strict lockdown from Thursday. Enditem
