BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.62 percent, at 3,320.15 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.19 percent higher at 12,514.73 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at about 1.08 trillion yuan (about 161 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 996.5 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Stocks related to the automotive supply chain and semiconductors notched solid gains, while shares of pharmaceutical companies and pork producers led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.09 percent to close at 2,760.1 points Thursday. Enditem
