BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.89 percent, at 3,253.24 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.3 percent lower at 12,266.92 points.

Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.01 trillion yuan (about 150.5 billion U.S. dollars), slightly higher than the level on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to pork production and auto parts manufacturing led the gains, while those related to aviation and airports, tourism, and Chinese Baijiu, a type of distilled spirit, were among the biggest losers.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.31 percent to close at 2,670.45 points Friday. Enditem
