BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.68 percent, at 3,263.79 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.82 percent higher at 12,033.26 points.

Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at about 1.1 trillion yuan (about 164.5 billion U.S. dollars), exceeding 1 trillion yuan for three consecutive trading days.

Shares related to coal and automobile industrial chains posted robust performances, while those related to real estate saw weak performances.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.85 percent to close at 2,576.34 points. Enditem
