BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent to 3,163.45 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.23 percent higher at 11,465.73 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 681.5 billion yuan (100.66 billion U.S. dollars), down from 741.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares in the e-paper and decelerator sectors led the gains, while those in the real estate services and hotel sectors suffered losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.51 percent to close at 2,458.49 points. Enditem
