BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) — Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.96 percent, at 3,316.79 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.48 percent higher at 12,331.14 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at about 1.09 trillion yuan (about 162.9 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.08 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Stocks related to organic silicon and electrical equipment led the gains, while those related to education and the internet were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.77 percent to close at 2,657.21 points. Enditem
