WINDHOEK, 06 JUN (NAMPA) – President Hage Geingob has expressed his gratitude to various political leaders and Namibian people for wishing him a quick recovery after he and First Lady Monica Geingos tested positive for COVID-19.

In a message issued by the Presidency on Sunday, Geingob said he wholeheartedly thanks Founding President Sam Nujoma who sent him a letter of support, sympathy and wished him a quick recovery.

Geingob first announced that they tested positive for COVID-19 on 27 May 2021. Both have recovered now.

The statement said among political leaders that wished Geingob and Geingos well are McHenry Venaani of Popular Democratic Movement, Independent Patriots for Change leader Panduleni Itula and United Democratic Front president Apius !Auchab.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi and Uhuru Kenyata of Kenya are among African leaders who sent well wishes. Chinese President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan also reached out.
