Musicians Apostle Chitheka Lewis, Lawi and Frank Chimpanzi will on Saturday night share the stage at Comesa Hall in Blantyre in a rare showdown.
Dubbed Soaked in Worship encounter, the red carpet event will see Apostle Chitheka launching the Soaked in Worship Live Recording that took place in August last year.
“It will be a powerful night of worship. I am happy to share the stage with Lawi and Frank Chimpanzi. Lawi is a great artist and his song ‘Oyera’ touches me and, so, I wanted to collaborate with him at this event,” she said.
Apostle Chitheka, who was recently decorated with an award, also described Chimpanzi as one of the great worshippers and that she was looking forward to sharing the stage with him.
Lawi, who recently held a listening party for his new album Thirties, said Wednesday he was excited and ready for the concert.
“Apostle Chitheka is a great influence and I have grown up listening to her music and, so, this is a life transforming opportunity not only for me but everyone who will be there,” he said.
Chimpanzi said this will be his first show after years.
“I think the last time I was on stage in the country was during Faith Mussa’s album launch but it was long time ago. This event is called Soaked in Worship and, so, people should expect to encounter God. People will go back home appreciating that God touched them through songs,” he said.
The gospel musician, famed for tracks such as ‘Bwerani’, said it was an honour for him to share the stage with Apostle Chitheka.
He also revealed that he was working on a new project which is being mixed and mastered in South Africa.
