American gospel musician and pastor Travis Greene delivered a virtoso performance that kept the sold out audience at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on fire.

Performing live with a band and spicing up the country’s gospel musician Wendy Harawa’s Wandiyitana album launch, the American artist raised the tempo of the concert and, by the time he was finishing his set, the audience was satisfied.

His entry on stage close to midnight was greeted with a delirium of cheers and he did not waste anytime but start his performance on a high after inviting people to come to the front.

The audience was soaked in praise and worship, singing, raising their hands and lighting their phones as Travis Greene, who jumped on stage soon after the performance of Zambian artist Abel Chungu, called the shots and offered a non-stop performance.

The evergreen Travis offered a clean sound, spoke the beauty of God when it mattered and interacted with the audience as they sang along to most of his songs.

“Mulungu Alemekezeke,” he said in one moment underscoring the greatness of God as the audience assisted him to pronounce the Chichewa words correctly.

Travis, who also showed his skills on the guitar, performed for more than an hour dishing out several songs that offered hope to the hopeless and, earlier on, he also invited his wife to share the word of God with the audience.

“I love you Malawi. Thank you for having me and thank you to Wendy for bringing me here,” he said before he left the stage with people rushing to take photographs with him.

Lilongwe-based singer and guitarist Paul Kachala was the first to hit the stage and he sparked with his performance before he paved the way for Wendy, who opened with old songs before moving to his latest tracks and had collaborations with Lulu and Chungu.

“To God be all the glory. He made it happen and thank you to people for the support,” Wendy said.

There was a prolonged auction led by Symon Kamlaka and Kendall Kamwendo that raked in more money but it consumed a lot of time, with Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife the highest bidder getting the CD at K16 million.

Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda, Soldier Lucius Banda, Gwamba, Nick Chakwera and his wife Rudo were some of the notable people who also coughed more for the CD.

Lucius was also forced to perform on the night and he served ‘Nthawi’.
