Tabitha, Temwa exploits please Andrew Chikhosi

DD Sunshine Coach and former Nyasa Big Bullets prolific striker Andrew Chikhosi has expressed happiness with the exploits of Malawi National Women’s Football Team top strikers Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga.
Chikhosi said the two sisters’ exploits in China are a great advertisement for Malawi women’s football to the world.
’”The two have performed well at the top level for many years and we should all be happy for them. This simply proves the fact they are great players.
“They performed well in Europe and they continue to do so in China. I see this as a great selling point for our game since the whole world now knows that Malawi has Tabitha and Temwa,” he said.
Tabitha registered her name on Wuhan Jaingda’s scoresheet in a 3-1 win over Guangdong Haiyin in the Chinese Women’s Super League on Wednesday.
The goal took her tally to six in six matches this season. She is the current leading goal scorer in the Chinese Women’s Super League.
Tabitha said her aim was to help her club successfully defend the league title.
“I am happy with my performance. But what is most important is for my team to win. The league is quite tough but I remain confident that we will successfully defend it,’’ she said.
The Scorchers striker has been in top form for her club this season and is a strong contender for the golden boot award.
Temwa has scored two goals in the current campaign from her new position of defence.
The sisters helped Wuhan successfully defend the league title last season with 16 goals between them. Tabitha won the golden boot award after scoring nine goals whereas Temwa netted seven.
Tabitha has won the league thrice in her four-year sojourn in China.
She won it twice with Jiangsu Sunning and once with Wuhan while Temwa has lifted the title twice with Wuhan.
Wuhan are at the summit of the table with 18 points from six matches, above Sunning on goal difference.
