Flames midfielder Duncan Nyoni earned praise from Simba Sports Club fans following his impressive display in a 1-0 win over Dodoma City FC on Friday.

The Malawian came off the bench to play just 30 minutes of the match but it was enough to impress the fans.

Several Simba fans reacted positively on the club’s official twitter account.

One fan identified as Bilingi Damas saluted Nyoni.

“Thanks for the result. Didier Gomes [Simba coach] sincerely consider Duncan Nyoni in the first eleven. He is good and talented,” he posted.

Another supporter identified as Nyalusi Abel was also excited with Nyoni’s performance.

“I saw Duncan Nyoni with great calm, point passes. If he continues to be trusted by Didier Gomes Da Rosa, then he will be a dangerous player at Simba,” he said.

Nyoni, alongside his compatriot and Simba teammate Peter Banda, have been included in Flames squad to face Ivory Coast on Friday.

Banda was not part of the match day squad on Friday due to a knock.

Flames Assistant Coach Lovemore Fazili said it was encouraging to see some of the players having game time.

“It gives confidence to the player and it is also a boost for Malawi. We need all the players to be in shape ahead of the match against Ivory Coast,” he added.

Elsewhere, striker Richard Mbulu and midfielder Gerald Phiri Junior were introduced as second half substitute as Baroka FC drew 1-1 against Stellenbosch on Saturday.

Flames Captain Limbikani Mzava was not in the squad as AmaZulu drew 1-1 against Kaizer Chiefs. Striker Gabadinho Mhango did not feature for Orlando Pirates in a 1-1 draw against Cape Town City.
