Red Lions Coach Nelson Chirwa believes he has assembled enough weapons to stop Nyasa Big Bullets as the two sides face off in a TNM Super League match at Balaka Stadium this afternoon.

The soldiers have been inconsistent this season, having lost three matches whereas Bullets are yet to taste defeat in the current campaign.

Bullets have a chance to go top of the log table if they get maximum points against Lions as leaders Blue Eagles will be in action against Dedza Dynamos at the same venue tomorrow.

Eagles top the standings with 25 points from nine matches, two points above Bullets, who have also played the same number of matches.

For Lions, this is also an important match as they aim to cement top eight finish in the first round to take part in the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Chirwa said his troops were not intimidated ahead of the match.

“We respect Bullets as a good team but we are not scared of them. The preparations have been very good and we are ready to collect maximum points against Bullets so that we finish in the top eight,” Chirwa said.

The Zomba based soldiers are on position eight in the TNM Super League with 11 points from eight matches.

Lions have assembled a good squad comprising Royal Bokosi, Ronald Pangani and James Mwetse.

Last season, Bullets defeated Lions 1-0 at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre. In recent matches, Bullets have struggled but have grinded out important results.

Bullets are coming from a 1-0 victory over Civil Service United in Lilongwe.

Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa did not provide updates on the team’s preparations ahead of match.

In this afternoon’s match, Bullets will be without Rabson Chiyenda, who is suspended for receiving a red card against Civil.

Clever Nkungula or Richard Chimbamba will likely to take his place.

Striker Babatunde Adepoju, midfielder Chimwemwe Idana and Hassan Kajoke are also available for selection this afternoon.

In another match this afternoon, Sable Farming host Moyale Barracks at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

Action in the league will continue tomorrow as Silver Strikers host Kamuzu Barracks at Silver Stadium whereas Wakawaka Tigers will face Mafco at Mpira Stadium.

Rookies Rumphi United will be at home to TN Stars at Rumphi Stadium
