Pressure is mounting on Silver Strikers as their slow start to the season continues following a goal-less stalemate with Moyale Barracks at Silver Stadium on Saturday.
The Central Bankers have failed to win a match in three consecutive matches and have been unconvincing, having won only four matches, five draws and lost thrice in 12 matches of the season.
Silver’s poor start to the season led to the suspension of head coach Daniel Kabwe, as assistant coach Macdonald Yobe took over.
But despite the changes, the results are not coming and the alarm bells should be ringing louder in Silver’s camp.
Silver, who have gone eight years without winning the TNM Super League, trail leaders Bullets by 18 points in the title race as they have 17 points from 12 matches.
After the draw against Moyale, Yobe admitted that pressure was mounting on them.
“We understand that everybody wants the team to win but we missed several chances against Moyale. We just need to push hard for us to get good results,” Yobe said.
This season, Silver have won against Karonga United, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Rumphi United and Kamuzu Barracks but have lost to Bullets, Red Lions and Blue Eagles.
They have drawn against Dedza Dynamos, Civil Service United, Ekwendeni Hammers, Sable Farming and Moyale.
On his part, Moyale Coach Prichard Mwansa said it was a match of two halves.
“We dominated the match in the second half but Silver played well in the first half,” he said.
In other matches on Saturday, Bullets thrashed Mighty Tigers 5-0 at Kamuzu Stadium to cement top spot.
Red Lions and Hammers also played out to a goal-less draw.
