Karonga United have finally parted ways with coach Daniel Dzinkambani after disagreements over payment of his dues.
The club’s chairperson Mathews Tulombolombo said they met on Monday and agreed to release Dzinkambani, who had been boycotting matches.
“After being booted out of the Airtel Top 8 Cup on Saturday, we met and agreed to let Dzinkambani go. One of the grounds for him is absenteeism. The coach is currently in Lumbadzi, Lilongwe, when he was supposed to be with the team in Karonga.
“He did not show up when we lost 2-0 to Civil United in the first leg and was also absent for the return match. So, it seems he doesn’t want to be part of us. We have now moved on and we will be talking to various coaches both locally and across the borders,” Tulombolombo said.
However, Dzinkambani said he had decided to leave due to unpaid dues.
“Karonga officials know what is happening at their club. I made a decision to stop reporting for duties and I have moved on,” Dzinkambani said.
This is the second time for the coach to leave the lakeshore side after announcing his departure in January this year.
He later rescinded his decision after sorting out issues that led to his resignation after suffering a 3-1 loss to TNM Super League debutants Ekwendeni Hammers.
Dzinkambani joined Karonga in February 2019 and led the team to a second-place finish in the Airtel Top 8 final in the same year.
