The government has purchased 1.3 million science subject books valued at K1.5 billion meant for distribution to students in public secondary schools.

Education Minister Agnes NyaLonje told The Daily Times that the first consignment of the books has arrived in the country.

“The books will chiefly improve education standards in the country as all learners will have books to be used for broadening their knowledge,” she said.

Grey Matter General Manager Santosh Sanvordekar said he was excited that they had managed to beat the deadline outlined in the contract document.

“We have honoured the contract after the Government of Malawi trusted us to supply 1.3 million textbooks and teachers guides for science subjects to the Ministry of Education for all secondary schools across the country,” he said.
