Government and FDH Bank plc have hailed Malawi National Netball Team’s promising start in the on-going Cosana Tri-Nation tournament at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences Sports Complex.

The Queens defeated Namibia 60-23 on Sunday, much to the delight of spectators.

Malawi National Council of Sports Board Chairperson Sunduzwayo Madise, who spoke on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports, said it was a good start from the Queens.

“Most people hardly watch the Queens because they play outside the country. It is good that we have hosted the tournament as supporters have a chance to watch the Queens. They have started well and we wish them the best.

“This competition is crucial because it will help teams in the region develop further. We, as government, assure the Queens of continued support,” he said.

Similarly, Queens’ official sponsors FDH Bank hailed the team’s impressive start.

“We, as a sponsor, are very happy and proud of the Queens. Our aim has always been sports development and this is what we like to see. We are confident of the Queens’ performance in this tournament and the upcoming Commonwealth Games. We also applaud Nam [Netball Association of Malawi] for the commendable facilitation of this tournament,” FDH Bank plc Public Relations and Marketing Manager Lorraine Chikhula said.
