FDH Bank has supported the Presidential Charity Golf Initiative with K10 million.
President Lazarus Chakwera launched the initiative to respond to social issues affecting people in the country.
The donation was made on Wednesday ahead of a golf tournament organised by the initiative, which tees off at Lilongwe Golf Club on October 7.
The aim is to mobilise funds for post-Tropical Cyclone Freddy recovery programmes and also support needy university students.
FDH Group Head of Marketing and Communication Levi Nkunika said the bank cares for people’s well-being, hence the gesture.
“We always feel obliged to make a contribution through our FDH Cares programme and when we received a request, we felt duty-bound to respond. We know that flood survivors and needy students require our support and we must always be there for them,” Nkunika said.
The tournament’s fundraising president Gift Gondwe thanked the bank for the support.
“We are delighted with the donation. The bank has indeed proved that it has people’s welfare at heart. The money will make a difference in this endeavour,” Gondwe said.
The initiative targets to raise about K400 million for the cause.
