Eagles lie second on the 16-member log table with 33 points from 16 matches, nine points behind Bullets who will be in action against rookies Rumphi United at Rumphi Stadium Sunday.

They can reduce the gap to six points if they beat the soldiers.

In the first round, Eagles defeated Moyale 1-0 as youngster Chikondi Mvula scored a late winner at Mzuzu Stadium.

Both teams are oozing with confidence ahead of the match after winning their respective matches last week.

Eagles earned a 1- 0 win over Karonga United at Karonga Ground whereas Moyale defeated Mighty Wakawaka Tigers 3-1.

Ahead of the match, Eagles Assistant Coach Christopher Sibale said the players were in high spirits.

“We anticipate a tough match but we are playing at home so we need to collect maximum points. We also want to catch up with Bullets so we cannot afford to drop points,” Sibale said.

Eagles have beefed up their squad with two new players namely exciting striker Christopher Gototo and winger Richard Rapson. The two players could feature for their new club.

Moyale Coach Pritchard Mwansa said his troops will go flat out.

“We will fight to get three points against Eagles. If we maintain the same momentum, we will get a good result,” Mwansa said.

The soldiers are on position eight in the league with 20 points from 16 matches.

In another match, Mafco will host Ekwendeni Hammers at Chitowe Ground this afternoon.

Action in the league will continue Sunday as Bullets will face Rumphi at Rumphi Ground. Mighty Mukuru Wanderers will face Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium.
