Former Montserrado County Electoral District 13 representative candidate Emmet K. Blayee says the district lacks basic social services thereby affecting the day – to – day activities of its residents. “One of the many things that are lacking within this district is the [collective] working of the communities and the political leadership,” he said over the weekend when he presented over fifty bags of rice and other food items to ten mosques within the district.
Mr. Blayee stated that to improve the living conditions of the people there are lots of things that need to be done. According to him, his team and the residents can do a lot together for the growth and development of the district and the nation at large.
Blayee used the occasion to call on the district lawmaker Edward P. Flomo to call a national stakeholders conference within the district, where leaders and heads of various groupings including community dwellers will brainstorm and share knowledge.
Mr. Blayee believes that this will put the district on the right trajectory, adding that he expects the district lawmaker to call a joint stakeholders conference where constituents will make plan to unite the people because their lives and the forward match of the district matter.
“As a son and a long time class room teacher in this district, I think our people are praying, it’s important to reach out to them in appreciating them for praying for our country,” he continued.
“Today my team and I have decided to visit ten strategic mosques within the district to compliment the efforts of our friends from the Muslim Community as they gear towards the end of the celebration of the holy month of Ramadan,” Mr. Blayee said.
On his list for visitation were the Fula Mansion Mosque, New Georgia Estate Mosque, New Georgia Central Mosque, Iron Factory Mosque, Battery Factory Mosque, and Billimah Mosque, among others.
Mr. Blayee noted that the donations were far from politics, saying he thinks the Muslim community’s prayer for Liberia is in good faith, and therefore he thought to identify with them.
Following Mr. Blayee’ presentation, Abraham Y. Fofana of the New Georgia Estate Mosque, and ZakariaJalloh of the Fula Mansion Mosque both extended profound appreciations to Mr. Blayee for his kind gesture.
