LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a 51-year-old Dauka Manondo on allegations that he insulted Minister of Labour Vera Kamtukule in a social media post.

Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer Hastings Chigalu has confirmed the arrest of Manondo.

According to Chigalu, Manondo posted a picture of the minister taken at Kamuzu International Airport, on a WhatsApp group called ‘Our political square’, and captioned it with insulting words, “Pussy power”

The picture is said to have been taken at the airport when President Lazarus Chakwera was returning from Mozambique.

Kamtukule led the team of officials who welcomed the President.

Chigalu added that five women lodged a complaint at Lilongwe Police on behalf of Kamtukule.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Dauka Manondo, who hails from Manondo Village, Traditional Authority Simon in Neno, has been charged with Cyber Harassment, a case which contravenes section 86 of Cyber Crimes Act.

Manondo is expected to appear in court soon to answer the said charge after completion of paperwork and investigations.
