LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi’s two football giants Nyasa Big Bullets FC and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC are set to fight in FDH Bank Cup Semifinal today at Bingu National Stadium.

This is not just a mere battle but rather will be fighting for-pride, fun and of course the grand Prize money amounting to MK25 million which is closer after today’s game.

The fever for the Blantyre Derby started weeks ago after the fixture was known amongst the supporters of the two sides and of course aganyu.

Walking in some of the townships in the country, Kawale,Biwi,Senti,Mgona,Kauma,Chinsapo,Area 36,23,Ndilande,Kachere there have been a verbal war amongst the supporters teasing each other.

You could hear “Tiyambira pomwe Simba SC yasiyira neba ulibe mphamvu iwe. We will continue from where Simba SC stopped last week in CAF. While Bullets side asked their fellows to remind them when was the last time they beat them in cup game”,.

But the judgement day is today, all verbal fights and questions will be answered by the players who will be also looking forward to open the current account with FDH Bank.

For Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC winning today’s semifinal will somehow give them some hopes of ending the season with a silverware, as they have gone year’s without one hence their players have to work lungs out to attain this goal at BNS.

They struggled at the beginning of the TNM Super League season but things turned to good soon after the club appointed Alex Ngwira as Head Coach who has so far helped them to move to position 5 with 37 points from 20 games.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC, however, will be playing to repent their sins of CAF Champions league for shamelessly being booted out with a 4-0 aggregate by Tanzanian outfit Simba SC. Callisto Pasuwa’s charges want to console their fans.

All in all the two teams have never won the MK90 million Prestigious FDH Bank cup since its inception last year hence the battle will dwell in many angles so to say.

Looking at the depth of their squads, both teams have that chances of winning the game. It will depend on who uses his tools well between Zimbabwean Callisto Pasuwa and Alex Ngwira on the day.

In a pre-match interview Bullets FC coach, Callisto Pasuwa, said he anticipates a tough battle against their rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC.

“Let me once again start with apologizing to the fans for the early exit in the CAF Champions league, we thought we could sail further but we failed. As I said, this is rejuvenated club full of young Stars which was not ready but I think the guys have learnt other side of football”,

“We repeated the same mistakes we did at BNS in Tanzania. Wanderers game is another tough match as they are one of experienced in the country. I may miss some of the players due to injuries and sickness but this is a cup game if you lose you’re out hence I will throw everything on the day”, Pasuwa said.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC coach, Alex Ngwira, said they are equally ready for today’s semifinal encounter against their bitter rivals Bullets.

He added that there is high morale in the camp.

“The morale is high if you go back to the games we have played in the league having Chiukepo Msowoya, Adeleke and Robin Ngalande in the squad just add spice and give me more options.

“Let the supporters come in large numbers and let me assure them we are also hungry for the trophy”, said Ngwira.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC defeated its crosstown rivals 2-1 in the 2022 TNM Super League in the first round before equaling power 3-3 in the second round in a game in which Wanderers came from 3-1 down.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC last defeated Nyasa Big Bullets FC in cup game in 2015 at Civo Stadium in the Capital Lilongwe,Carlsberg Cup final.

Bingu National Stadium has been known as home for Wanderers as they have won more games than Nyasa Big Bullets FC though they were defeated in Airtel Top 8,2-1.

The winner between the two giants meet the stubborn Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve FC who reached the final after a 2-1 win over Mchinji based side, Extreme FC.

The Youthful side defeated experienced TNM Super League sides, Mighty Tigers, Blue Eagles FC.
