JOHANNESBURG, April 8 (ANA) – Uganda have been outclassed by Namibia in their T20 series, with the hosts romping to a 3-0 series win in the T20 International series in Windhoek.

With all Uganda’s matches against Namibia being held in Windhoek, the first T20I took place on April 3. Uganda set Namibia 135, a score they chased down with ease in 14.5 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Easter Monday saw the teams play two T20Is back-to-back. Namibia set a moderate total of 134, the same score they chased down in the first clash. However, Uganda fell short again – this time by 20 runs.

In the second match of the day, Namibia notched up an impressive total of 189/3. Craig Williams was the star for Namibia with a fiery knock of 81 from 49 balls, which included 12 fours and a six.

Moving on to the two-match One-Day Internationals series, Namibia again batted first and posted 301/7 on Wednesday. Though Uganda reduced Namibia to 70/4, and 148/6 after 35 overs – the hosts managed to double their score in the last 15 overs thanks to knocks of 81 from 56 by JJ Smit and 56 from 45 by Michael van Lingen.

Once more Uganda battled to get going in their chase as they were reduced to 9/4 after five overs. Ronak Patel, however, restored some respectability to his side’s score with a commendable 105 from 129 balls. Ultimately, Uganda could only manage 203/7 but can be commended for batting out their overs as Namibia eased to 98-run victory.

In the second and final ODI on Thursday, Namibia made 354/9 batting first. Namibia opener Stephan Bard was the star with 145 runs from 105 balls, with 15 fours and three maximums.

In their chase, Uganda were 152/7 from 39 overs needing a further 203 runs from the 11 overs remaining. It means Namibia had all but sealed another whitewash series win, to go with their dominant performances in the T20Is. – African News Agency (ANA), Editing by Michael Sherman
