JOHANNESBURG, March 26 (ANA) – The schedule for the Ugandan men’s cricket team tour to Namibia was confirmed on Thursday.

Uganda will take on Namibia in Windhoek from April 3 to April 8, with three T20 Internationals and two One-Day Internationals.

Uganda will return to Kampala on April 9.

Both sides are in the midst of their respective preparations for ICC tournaments. Namibia will be playing in the ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers in October, while Uganda will be competing in the ICC Challenge League B in Jersey, off the coast of France, in September.

In June last year, Uganda hired Lawrence Mahatlane as their men’s team coach. Mahatlane spent the previous six years in charge of the South Africa Under-19 team.

Uganda will have their work cut out for them against a much more powerful Namibia side which will be looking to put the finishing touches on their preparation for the T20 World Cup.

Namibia chief executive Johan Muller said: “We want to thank Uganda for taking this opportunity to travel to Namibia. We are looking for a strong on-field challenge of high-level cricket.

Namibian coach Pierre de Bruyn said: “Every match is crucial building up to the T20 World Cup and allows for us to look at new combinations and possibly a couple of fringe players.

“The players trained very hard during the lockdown period and this is a fantastic opportunity to show off their skills.”
